The Palmer Museum has an archive of over ten thousand photographs, sorted into dozens of collections. When a donor gifts images to the museum, those photographs are accessioned into our holdings as a collection, usually under the donor’s name or the name of the individual who created the collection. The images shown on the Matanuska Valley Historical Photo Project website represent the best quality or most original parts of those collections. We are working to furnish all of our collections with finding aids, to provide a detailed look at the content of each collection beyond what is represented on the website. If you have photographs you feel would be a good addition to the archive at the Palmer Museum of History and Art, please consider adding your name to our list of collections.
